Abstract

The Sleman Bregada Festival is an annual event that showcases the Bregada Rakyat (People's Brigade) troops as an effort to preserve local culture. Although it has been regularly held since 2018, the festival does not yet have a mascot that strongly represents the cultural values and unique characteristics of Sleman Regency. This has made the festival's image less appealing and difficult to distinguish from other similar brigade festivals. This design aims to create a mascot that is strong, culturally relevant, and easily recognized by the wider community. The design process uses a qualitative approach through interviews with cultural figures and direct observation of festival activities. The analysis is carried out using the SWOT technique to formulate an appropriate and effective visual strategy. The result of this design is the mascot Panji Syena, a representation of a human figure with the head of a Javan hawk-eagle, wearing the traditional attire of the Bregada Rakyat Sembada of Sleman Regency. This character symbolizes the spirit of leadership, courage, and cultural preservation. The Panji Syena mascot is applied across various media, including trophies, figurine ornaments, t-shirt merchandise, tote bags, keychains, Instagram story filters, and Instagram post templates. The incorporation of local cultural elements into this visual identity effectively represents the Bregada Rakyat Sembada.
