Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector in supporting economic growth and cultural preservation. Kotagede, as one of the historical areas in Yogyakarta, has great tourism potential, ranging from historical architecture, traditional cuisine, to silver handicrafts. Generation Z is the most enthusiastic group of tourists participating in walking tours, but they often face difficulties in finding structured information about tourist destinations in Kotagede. Generation Z tends to seek engaging personal and visual experiences. Therefore, the design of the visual book "Diary of a Tour Around Kotagede: A One-Day Travel Guide" is intended to provide an enjoyable, informative, and personal exploration guide. The method used is Practice-Led Research with a Pre-Factum approach, through four stages: preparation, imagination, development, and execution. This book is designed with an editorial design style and uses the principles of visual elements such as sequence, emphasis, balance, and unity, and is equipped with interactive features such as drawin columns, stickers, and writing answers to questions about the visited destinations to make the travel experience more meaningful and personal. The final result is a guidebook that not only makes it easier for tourists to explore Kotagede but also serves as a visual promotional medium. This design is expected to serve as a reference in the development of promotional media based on visual communication design that aligns with the target audience's character.
