Abstract
Bantengan Art is a performing art that combines elements of sendratari (drama and dance) and kanuragan (physical and spiritual strength) accompanied by gamelan music and mantra recitation. The widespread existence in Batu City, gave rise to deviant acculturation (bantengan mberot) with DJ Remix music and caused a commotion that reduced public interest and was looked down upon, especially by the younger generation. As discussed in this design, where the author tries to describe how the development and condition of Bantengan Art in Batu City today, using the design method of creating works (Pre-factum, Practice-Ed Research). One of the alternative media used in preserving Bantengan Art for the younger generation is merchandise illustrations in the form of t-shirts, tote bags (shopping bags), and bag decoration hangers which are then promoted through Instagram media as a media whose most users are the younger generation. Merchandise illustrations are able to convey an introduction to exemplary values, solidarity and respect for ancestors which are delivered in a more interesting and fun way according to the character and habits of the current generation but the message is relevant or memorable and effective on target but with contemporary style and trends. With a strategy like this, it is hoped that Bantengan Art can be preserved, expanded its existence and maintained.
