Abstract

Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage that has high artistic value and is already known internationally. One of the hand-drawn batik craftsmen in Purworejo Regency is Rafba Batik, which has been consistently producing hand-drawn and stamped batik since 2013. Unfortunately, the packaging used so far is still the same and has not been able to show the difference between hand-drawn and stamped batik packaging, even though both have different values. Therefore, the packaging design for hand-drawn batik needs to be specially designed to look more exclusive and valuable, and is made with a much more complicated process and takes time. This research method was carried out through direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the design of functional packaging design, and displaying the distinctive identity of Purworejo through illustrations of the dolalak dance, durian, clorot, and several potentials in Purworejo. The application of Purworejo batik elements to the packaging of Rafba Batik hand-drawn batik can help strengthen the brand image and can provide a more valuable impression and build emotional appeal.
