Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral message in the Meteng Ulu film which represents the phenomenon of early marriage in Indramayu. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a Roland Barthes semiotic analysis approach, which examines the denotative and connotative meanings of visual and verbal signs in the film. Data were obtained through scene documentation from the Wong Sugih YouTube channel and supported by secondary literature from various sources. The results of the study show that the Meteng Ulu film conveys a moral message implicitly through cultural symbols, character expressions, and a storyline that depicts the negative impacts of early marriage, such as loss of educational opportunities, emotional stress, and economic conflict in the household. This study is expected to increase public awareness, especially adolescents and parents, regarding the importance of supervision and sexual education and the dangers of early marriage.
