Abstract

This study sets out to achieve one goal, to design a 2D video animation titled "Bekawan dengan Orangutan" as an additional media for BKSDA (Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam) Kalimantan Tengah and OF-UK (Orangutan Foundation United Kingdom) to socialize and campaign about the conflict management that happened between human and orangutan in Kalimantan to elementary school children aged 8-10 years. The conventional socialization methods currently used are not optimal, especially for children who lack focus on traditional materials. This research utilizes an audio visual approach, encompassing pre-production (data collection, concept art, storyboard creation), production (animation, editing, compositing), and post-production (YouTube publication). The results show that the designed 2D animated video, featuring characters Kiki and Timtom with vector art, bright colors, and simple language, effectively captures children's attention and enhances their understanding of conservation messages. This design demonstrates the potential of digital media, specifically animation, as an innovative and engaging campaign tool for environmental education, bridging gaps in traditional outreach methods and fostering early environmental awareness among the younger generation.
