Abstract

This children's illustration book aims to introduce local cultural heritage to children. The book titled “Petualangan Si Kenang di Makam Raja-Raja Imogiri” tells the story of a young boy named Kenang and his adventure at the Royal Cemetery of Imogiri. The story is about a young boy named Kenang who visits the royal cemetery and suddenly finds himself transported to the past, where he witnesses the history of how the cemetery was built. This children's book illustration combines historical narrative with an imaginative approach by incorporating elements of time travel. Use design thinking and making as an analytical method to develop visual concepts, color palette, and character design that suit the cognitive and emotional development of children aged 6-12 years old. The result of this design project is an illustrated book that presents the historical story of the establishment of the Royal Cemetery of Imogiri. The story features digital illustrations accompanied by a flowing narrative that highlights Javanese history and culture. It aims to educate children about history, specifically how the Imogiri Royal Cemetery was built through an engaging and easy-to-understand visual medium.
