Abstract

In today’s era, motorsport in Indonesia—especially Drag Bike and Drag Race—has become a popular activity among youth and automotive communities. These straight-line racing competitions test speed and precision over short distances, under strict supervision and regulations from the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI). In Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, public interest in motorsport continues to grow, supported by the emergence of active automotive communities organizing local and regional events. More than just a contest of speed, these events provide a positive outlet for youth to channel their interests. Official race events also promote road safety, prevent illegal street racing, and support the local economy through MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) that benefit from increased sales during the event. According to IMI and local organizers, such competitions should be held regularly to maintain safety, discipline, and competitiveness. However, current promotional media often rely on conventional methods lacking visual appeal or thematic strength. The visual identity for this event is therefore designed with a theme of Indonesian Independence Day, aiming to blend the spirit of competition with nationalism. The design process follows the Human-Centered Design (HCD) method, which includes stages of Discover, Understand, Create, and Implement to ensure that the solutions are aligned with the target audience’s needs—primarily youth and automotive enthusiasts. This design project resulted in various visual assets such as the event title design, AGP logo, Instagram feeds, registration stickers, podium background, starting gate visuals, and crew jersey designs. The visuals incorporate red, white, and gray tones to evoke nationalism, energy, and strength, with racing-inspired typography and graphic elements. The outcome aims to create a cohesive promotional identity that is attractive, functional, and capable of fostering engagement, sportsmanship, and patriotic spirit among the audience. Through this design, the event is expected to promote a safer racing culture, celebrate national identity, and positively impact the local community both socially and economically.
